Our take

The logistics and supply chain industry faces a serious challenge - volumes and varieties of goods to be picked and shipped are continuously increasing, but a staffing shortage means the workforce isn't available to accomplish this. Ambi is one of a number of companies aiming to find a solution, producing AI-powered robots to automate and accelerate logistics and fulfillment processes.

Utilizing the latest advances in robotics and machine learning, Ambi's robots work in tandem with human operators and are trained to handle both rigid and deformable (and therefore fragile or easy-to-drop) items, increasing the throughput per employee to over 1,200 items per hour on average. Ambi is competing with numerous other startups in this space, such as Covariant, Pickle and XYZ Robotics, but the addressable market is huge and untapped, with an estimated size of $30 Billion in 2023.

Having built up a customer base which includes the likes of Pitney Bowes and OSM Worldwide, Ambi has also secured a large amount of funding over several investment rounds. This is being used to continuing deployments of Ambi's robots and to expand the company's headcount, particularly in engineering and customer support. With a growing demand for its technology, Ambi is well poised for future success.
