Otta's take

Sam Franklin

CEO of Otta

Class is primarily built around the well-known video-conferencing platform, Zoom. It adds to Zoom's basic services a suite of tools that let teachers take attendance, distribute and grade assignments, and deliver online assessments.

The need for such a service has been paramount, and this has been reflected in the huge early-stage investment which Class has received since its founding in 2020. Naturally, a potential obstacle for Class will be whether it can maintain demand for its services over the coming years. To secure its future success, Class wants to create a revolution in learning. It's banking on institutions desiring to keep online learning in some form because of two key advantages: accessibility and cost. Plus, with a service which can potentially be used for teaching all the way from nursery to university level, Class hopes that it will always be able to serve a big chunk of the market.

The main competition for Class comes from platforms such as Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams. Even with its competition, Class is able to access a huge market share. Its key challenge will be holding onto it.
