Over 50 million, around 1 in 5, Americans suffer from chronic pain, with the majority reporting an increase in their symptoms in recent years. This has led to the opioid epidemic in the US. This is an issue that Clearing focuses on with its digital healthcare platform that works to find new ways to treat chronic pain.
The system is used by patients who are able to describe their pain via the online platform, before Clearing’s clinicians customize a tailor-made treatment plan to meet the patient’s needs. This plan may include non-addictive supplements, topical creams, and personalized exercises via an app. The aim is to help to increase access to pain relief, which is nonaddictive and affordable.
Clearing is a new player in a digital health market that already has competition from more established companies targeting chronic pain, such as Hinge Health, AppliedVR, and Spine Zone. However, the company, that is considered a game changer for chronic pain sufferers, will be able to scale operations after raising $20 million in seed funding, helping secure its goal of removing barriers to quality, personalised pain treatment.
