Observability is an essential part of software development, and dashboards are used to track the health of IT infrastructure across an organization. For developers, spending unnecessary time on tasks other than programming in order to navigate between different dashboards in order to find the latest information is very annoying and a waste of valuable time.

Grafana works closely with clients to develop customizable observability platforms that aim to make observability more efficient. Examples of features that the startup provides include cloud-based data structures, dashboards, API plugins, and collaboration tools. The company has over 1M active Grafana instances with approx 10 million global users, and has more than 2,000 paying customers including the likes of Bloomberg, JP Morgan Chase, eBay, PayPal and Sony.

Whilst Grafana provides free plans offering a uniform and simplified package of tools, the Grafana Enterprise Stack charges businesses monthly to deliver customized observability of an infrastructural stack. To continue its success, the company's plan is to continue developing Grafana in ways that meet the needs of its user base, such as continuing to improve functionality with each model so users can share their Grafana dashboards with the greater open source community.
