Otta's take

CTO of Otta

Following Jellyvision’s first successful iteration as a games developer, the company reopened in 2001 to build on its voice-recognition interface and develop interactive conversational counselor ALEX. ALEX helps employees navigate the complex process of making health insurance, finance, and healthcare decisions, with an emphasis on delivering funny and personable conversations.

One poll suggested just a third of employees fully understand their coverage options, and this number is expected to grow with remote working reducing the availability of in-person information sessions. So tools like ALEX stand to offer material improvements to employee experience, as well as alleviating HR workloads. Both of these elements should prove attractive to companies looking to stay abreast of changing workplace expectations.

It will be interesting to see if Jellyvision’s friendly focus will win the company a lead over rivals like Nayya. However, with new hires in senior leadership to manage Jellyvision through a planned period of growth, and the virtual benefits technology market at large receiving increasing interest, it may make strong strides.
