Copyrighted music can’t traditionally be used in monetised videos, which means that the swelling ranks of digital content creators have been unable to capitalise on the popularity of top hits to boost their online presence. Lickd is a music licensing subscription service changing that.

For a modest monthly fee, creators and brands can use Lickd to get commercial access to a catalogue of over a million copyrighted songs from major artists. They’re secured through partnerships with top-tier record labels like Universal, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music.

This calibre of track distinguishes Lickd from competitors like Epidemic Sound and Tunepocket, who offer a similar service but for unlicensed stock tracks. The difference is substantial, as it means Lickd stands to pull in a higher calibre of content creator clientele. We’re seeing this in action already as the metaverse begins to take shape: Lickd has already partnered with one of Decentraland’s largest districts, Vegas City.

It’s a unique offering that’s won Lickd some major backing - strategic investors include Warner Music Group and Epic Games. The added reach and expertise this will bring will help Lickd continue to capitalize on the rapidly developing Metaverse space.
