Otta's take

Xav Kearney headshot

Xav Kearney

CTO of Otta

Nothing wants to inspire people to believe in the positive potential of technology again. It aims to do this through its consumer technology platform, seeking to bring artistry, passion and trust back into the sector.

The company is co-founded by Carl Pei, who previously co-founded OnePlus, the mobile tech company that operates in more than 30 countries worldwide. Having announced its Series A with the backing of Alphabets' VC arm, Nothing has launched a series of products including the Nothing Phone (1), a mid-range but aesthetically exciting android-powered device, along with earphones and, interestingly, a craft beer.

Having successfully delivered a flagship product which has held its own in a firecly competitive market populated with the likes of Apple, Samsung and Google, along with mid-range rivals Honor and OnePlus, Nothing is preparing to launch a followup Nothing (2) device. If this is as well received as its predecessor then Nothing could grow into a household name.
