Prolific is a marketplace for finding survey participants on demand. Customers submit their survey, tell them a bit about their target audience, and they’ll find survey participants accordingly.

Prolific was started when the founders (both doing PhDs at the time) couldn't find participants for their research projects. They weren't satisfied by the quality they got from current products on the market (e.g. Amazon's Mechanical Turk is great for simple data processing tasks, but not good for surveys).

They now have a long roadmap to enable easier market research for institutions and organisations. They're also growing quickly, with over 3,000+ researchers from science and industry using Prolific last year and 45,000 quarterly active participants. A $32 million funding round in 2023 is helping the company bolster this growth.
