I applied for Seneca because I have an interest in technology but no experience so the role I applied for was Customer Support. From week 1 my manager and teammates have been supportive and keen for me to learn new systems and processes, not always specifically related to my job role but just because I had an interest. It's rare to find a company where you ask to learn something new and they make a conscious effort to find you something new to learn! There is no holding back or being told to stay in your lane.

Seneca is not a company that micro manages or hand holds (unless you want it) There's very much an atmosphere of whatever you are comfortable is how it will be. If you want several catch up sessions a day then fine, if you prefer to let your manager know only when you need help that's fine too. There's a huge element of trust and faith in every member of the team, Seneca adapts to how you work best.

It doesn't feel like we've got managers but supportive and more experienced colleagues! The training and day to day Seneca life is not a strict process of you must follow these steps and when the manager feels you are ready you can move on. It's based more around your capabilities, your confidence levels and whether you feel you are ready to do it alone. The culture is very much to give it a go, ask for help when needed and don't feel bad about mistakes. They happen. It's not an environment where you spend the night awake stressing about a mistake you made that day because the team will work together to resolve it and prevent it from happening again. There's not a blame culture. All management, even at the highest level are friendly and approachable, happy to answer even the most inane and repetitive questions!

As the company name suggests it is a great place to learn not only by using the product we build but also by learning to build the product! The team is very open-minded always seeking ways to improve tech experience and to apply the latest technologies into practice.

Technology & tools are the building block of our application and infrastructure so are picking carefully the best possible options that the tech industry can provide us, otherwise, we build our own to ensure that we can reach our highest goals.

Since I joined Seneca I have been exposed to a variety of different tools and approaches to work in order to come up with creative solutions to complex problems. Each decision on how to tackle a problem is dealt with in a positive manner and with an efficiency I haven't seen before in the workplace.

From day one at Seneca I was treated with respect and encouraged to share my opinions on things I thought could be improved - even if I didn't necessarily experience in that area. There is no feeling of a strong hierarchical structure at Seneca and everyone feels as if they are a valuable part of the team.

The main reason I joined Seneca is the ethos at the core of the product - levelling access to good education (mainly by providing a lot of content for free). This has been at the core of every decision that I have seen made from a strategic, financial, operations, and product point of view. Since I joined Seneca I have continually been given opportunities to develop loads of new skills that have hugely expanded my capabilities. There is a great culture of learning in the team. Whenever you want to develop something new, everyone provides encouragement and guidance.

All opinions are heard within the team and there are no stupid questions. We're always encouraged to propose new ideas to improve things, whether that be on the product or workflows within the team itself.

The product we're building is used globally and allows students to study in fun & innovative ways. I really feel like the work that I'm doing has a direct impact on how students learn.

The team is super smart and open minded. Everyone likes to learn and share new information about things they're working on. Means you can learn a lot about something you knew nothing about in a short space of time.

Regular feedback is encouraged and left with positive intent. This goes both ways. When you're struggling with something it feels okay to reach out for help and if you've got too much on and it's affecting the quality of your work it's often spotted early and addressed quickly.

Regular product team knowledge shares from engineers, product, Stephen and Lukas. Then we have cool down weeks and Dev labs when peoplpe are encouraged to learn something knew or build something exciting.

We have totally flexible working hours and can work from home, from the office or a bit of both. I really enjoy the autonomy to make my own schedule.

Seneca has literally helped millions of students around the world to learn better without charging them for anything. It's an amazing mission and it's definitely making a difference.
