Otta's take

Xav Kearney headshot

Xav Kearney

CTO of Otta

The fashion supply chain is disconnected and inefficient, with predicting demand more of a guessing game than an exact science. This results in massive amounts of clothing waste from garments that are manufactured but never sold - a massive problem for the environment and the climate.

Unmade is a global fashion SaaS company working with some of the most recognisable fashion, lifestyle, and sportswear brands, such as Selfridges, New Balance, Farfetch and Rapha. The company was born out of a desire to reimagine both the design and manufacturing processes within the fashion industry, so brands only make what is actually sold, resulting in product market fit and minimal waste.

With Unmade's software, brands can allow clients to customise specific items (changing the graphic, colour and text), which are then commissioned and made. By connecting demand directly to supply, and taking the guesswork out of fashion production, the company addresses a pressing problem and is positioned to make a positive difference to the clothing waste crisis.

I really appreciate at Unmade that salaries are benchmarked and transparently shared across the company on a salary framework depending on seniority. This is the first company where I've worked where there's no mystery around others' compensation and you know exactly where you stand.
