Our take

Order fulfilment warehouses are essential for businesses to scale in today's eCommerce landscape, using a combination of human workers and machinery to operate packaging assembly lines. However, these workflows are time-consuming and repetitive, showing the potential for costly human workers to be replaced with AI-driven robots.

Locus Robotics provides automated robotic technologies for eCommerce fulfilment warehouses, offering a range of different robots that specialize in different workflows. Every robot outputs data that can be tracked and analyzed, and can be installed rapidly and scaled depending on business size.

Whilst robots in warehouses is not a new concept, they are generally limited to eCommerce warehouse giants such as Amazon, build for massive scales and generalized purposes. Locus Robotics on the other hand has taken a flexible and accessible approach to its technology, aiming to increase access and affordability to warehouse robotics and thus helping smaller businesses to scale.

As investment in robotics has heated up in recent years, Locus Robotics has raised a large amount of capital, most recently in a late 2022 Series F round led by Goldman Sachs, G2 and Stack. Having picked over a billion items across its network of customers, the company is well established and it is now moving to scale internationally with a focus on Europe. In the longer term, when market conditions allow, it is moving towards an initial public offering.
