Role

Who you are

  • Marketing Strategy: Understanding the levers of a scaling business. You’re able to identify and analyze key metrics and prioritize strategies to escalate growth in new users and paid conversions
  • Paid Media Channel Expertise: Developing and scaling paid and organic campaigns across any channel, including SEM, paid social, video, and display. You’re excited to test into new channels and new technologies to find growth. Experience managing Adwords, Facebook Ads, and other global digital media channels with multimillion dollar budgets
  • Analytical Capabilities: You will report out on the performance, measure attribution, measure estimated vs. actualized impact, and overall incremental impact to the WordPress.com business
  • Communication: Ability to express complicated concepts in an easy to understand method, with excellent written, oral, and illustrative communication styles. Listens to and considers alternative perspectives to identify the optimal path forward. Experience writing compelling copy for landing pages, ads, and/or emails

Desirable

  • Nice to have: Understanding and knowledge of the WordPress ecosystem is a plus, including but not limited to having built websites on the WordPress platform, being a member of the WordPress community, and/or understanding the various products and tools within the Automattic portfolio

What the job involves

  • WordPress.com is looking for an experienced marketing manager to create, implement, and refine paid media strategies to acquire, convert, and monetize customers. This candidate should have deep knowledge in the digital marketing space, have hands-on experience optimizing multi-million dollar SEM campaigns, and possess strong analytics, project management, and analytics skills
  • Acquiring incremental customers within desired cost guardrails
  • Improving conversion rate through funnel optimization and message testing
  • Optimizing paid media channel performance
  • Discovering new sources of growth by testing into new paid media channels, campaigns, audiences, and/or regions
  • Reporting and analytics: utilizing data in order to inform strategic marketing decisions

Since its launch in 2005, the company has continued to evolve and expand as it built its new web empire.

Automattic is the company behind WordPress (which powers roughly 42% of all websites), Jetpack, Tumblr, Simplenote, WooCommerce (which is believed to run more than a quarter of all online storefronts), Longreads, Crowdsignal, Atavist, Day One, and more.

The company’s “Five for the Future” initiative allocates 5% of its resources to further the development of WordPress, and many other companies that utilize Automattic’s communities follow some version of the initiative, contributing back code and time to support the community. Still spinning out new projects such as an anti-spam filter and online identity safeguards, the unicorn company is a powerhouse that is well set to continue its path to long-lasting growth.
