Company mission

Proton.ai is on a mission to optimize distributors' sales operations.

Role

Who you are

  • You communicate clearly: You bring excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to the table. Each interaction with a prospect is well-researched, personalized, and executed thoughtfully, positioning you as a trusted advisor
  • You are curious: You have a natural curiosity that drives you to understand Proton's products, mission, and the problems we solve. You dive into sales calls, interviews, and educational content to become a subject matter expert
  • You are a good listener: Ability to understand customer needs and concern
  • You are resilient: The word "No" doesn’t deter you. You see it as a challenge that motivates you. Instead, it motivates you to push harder and find new ways to achieve your objectives
  • You have a proven track record: You've been in the trenches before, with relevant experience in a business development or outbound sales role and a track record of successful results to show for it
  • You are determined: Your grit and drive power you through challenges. Your mantra is "the more effort you put in, the greater the rewards."
  • You are creative: You have an innate knack for problem-solving, finding innovative ways to achieve your goals and overcome obstacles
  • You are ambitious: You don’t just meet goals, you strive to exceed them, constantly pushing to better your performance

What the job involves

  • We've had a great year so far, and with our investors’ support, we’re doubling down on our efforts to increase market awareness and drive growth. You’ll be joining as the second BDR on a small but impactful sales and marketing team, where every effort you make is felt across the company
  • Your mission is clear: ensure Proton is on every distributor’s radar. You’ll report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with the VP Sales and CEO. In this role, your main focus will be reaching out to prospects, diving deep to see if they're in the market for a CRM, assessing their satisfaction with their current solution, and pinpointing the timing of their contract renewals. Your role is pivotal in uncovering opportunities and driving our sales pipeline
  • This role is an opportunity to gain exposure to enterprise sales. You won't just be limited to typical BDR tasks; you’ll attend industry events, qualify high-value prospects, and sit in on calls with leaders of million-dollar distribution businesses
  • You’ll gain firsthand experience in engaging with enterprise-level decision-makers, setting the stage for a future in enterprise sales
  • If you're looking for a position where your contributions are recognized, where you can work directly with leadership, and where you’re empowered to experiment and take action, this is the role for you
  • If you’re fascinated by the psychology behind sales, thrive on the challenge of reaching the right contact, and see each "no" as a step towards an eventual "yes," you might be the perfect fit for this role. With Proton, you'll grow as a seller, learn from experienced leaders, and play a crucia
  • You'll lead the charge in cold outreach—cold calls, emails, LinkedIn—aiming to turn the heads of those who've barely engaged with Proton
  • Qualify leads and arrange meetings for our sales executives. You're often the first Proton contact for potential customers, so making a strong impression is key
  • Represent Proton at industry events, engaging directly with prospects and building relationships face-to-face
  • You'll also nurture leads from events and previous interactions, nudging them towards setting up a meeting
  • Conduct thorough research on target accounts, pinpointing decision-makers who need to know about Proton
  • Be relentless on the phone, turning those conversations into bookings for our sales team
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing to craft messages and emails that pull prospects to our website, events, and discovery calls
  • Keep engaged with, nurture, and qualify leads from events and sponsorships, drawing them in with content that converts them into opportunities
  • Keep our CRM up to date with all prospecting activities, including key info like a prospect’s renewal timeline
  • Use insights from prospect interactions to refine content strategies and provide valuable input to the Sales and Marketing teams
  • Proactively invite prospects from target accounts to events Proton is attending
  • Handle inbound inquiries from non-target accounts
  • Regularly reconnect with previous prospects, keeping Proton on their radar with relevant updates and reigniting potential conversations
  • We'll measure your success through:
  • Activity benchmarks like the volume of cold calls made and emails sent
  • The effectiveness of your outreach, judged by email open rates and click-through rates
  • The total number of meetings booked with prospects

Our take

With the increased migration to the digital world, sales teams are under mounting pressure. Proton.ai is one of a crop of new companies that solves this problem through automation.

The sales automation market is booming, and companies are having to specialize in order to survive. Proton.ai has carved out a successful niche by focusing its attention on wholesale distributors, a previously underserved corner of the sales sector. Proton.ai's tools help sales reps and their customers to manage products across multiple channels.

By tapping into the lucrative wholesale market and working with (rather than against) incumbent enterprises, Proton.ai has scaled at an enviable pace. Its considerable funding will help the company to remain competitive, especially against the likes of Shopify, which has made a successful move into the wholesale eCommerce market.
