Our take

Visa is the world's leader in digital payments – that's why its iconic brand logo is everywhere, from cards to online marketplaces. There are over a billion Visa credit cards in circulation globally, whilst their advanced global processing network, VisaNet, provides secure and reliable payments around the world, and is capable of handling more than 65,000 transaction messages a second.

Visa's self-proclaimed "relentless focus on innovation" has seen it play a major role in the modern shift towards a digital economy. Now, Visa is continuing to develop new systems which can help improve payments. Its recent innovation – an advanced artificial intelligence system that can approve or decline credit and debit transactions on behalf of banks whose own networks are down – will allow consumers to make payments even when their bank's own systems are down, a benefit for both parties.

Visa shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. As the economy develops into new areas, such as AI systems and cryptocurrencies, Visa is set to remain steadily at the helm of the global payments industry.
