What the job involves
- We’re looking for full-time Software Engineers to help us continue building the ultimate social calendar app. You’ll contribute new product ideas and plan, develop and test new app features.
- You’ll be joining an existing, agile team of 5 developers and, given our early stage, your work will play a key role in driving the company’s next stage of growth.
- You’ll be able to work on all elements of our tech stack and we encourage all our engineers to play to their strengths and interests.
- This is a hybrid role working three days in our office (based in Shoreditch, London) and two days working remotely.

Howbout is a social app looking to take the stress out of planning private trips, outings, and meetups. Users can synch calendars from other sources and with each other to check availability, make plan pages with dedicated chats, and add polls, maps, and even event countdowns.
For a social app launched over the pandemic period of prohibited in-person meetings, Howbout has demonstrated remarkable growth. It currently has over 700K worldwide users in over 125 different countries, and is generating hugely positive customer reviews.
This is a big coup: customer onboarding is a key obstacle for any app requiring high levels of uptake amongst social circles. Especially given people’s predisposition to using simpler (if less efficient) means like WhatsApp group chats.
This issue may have been what caught out similar social planning app MESH, which was launched in the early 2010s and appears to have fallen off. With Howbout’s strong start, and today’s climate perhaps more inclined towards leveraging different forms of social media, this high-growth company could be the one to break through.
