  • The right person will possess Partner Acquisition, Management or Development experience in the software/technology industry in the DACH market
  • Strong business and technical acumen, with a demonstrated track record of driving emerging/disruptive technologies like open source software, virtualization and Software as a Service delivery models
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross functional audiences
  • Strong consultative customer facing and persuasion skills
  • Consistently exceeds quota and key performance metrics
  • Strong analytical and program management skills with a focus on delivering scalable programs supporting hundreds of customers
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
  • Fluent in German and English

What the job involves

  • As a Partner Development Manager for one of our Strategic Consulting Partners, you will have the exciting opportunity to deliver on our strategy to build mind share and adoption of the AWS cloud-computing platform
  • Responsibilities include on-boarding, developing and expanding the strategic partner, understanding their services, technical solutions, vertical focus, expertise and licensing models
  • You will work close aligned to the AWS account team and with other AWS Partner Development Managers and Partner Solution Architects
  • As a Principal Partner Development Manager you drive forward strategic pursuits at key partner accounts
  • The role requires strong internal and external stakeholder management, as well as high-quality writing and executive communication to explain progress or roadblocks
  • You need to be able to handle significant complex problems and decisions that help you and your partner to deliver high impact
  • The PDM is responsible for the development of a partner, is an expert in leveraging applicable APN programs and will help the partner in defining and accelerating their partnership journey with AWS
  • The PDM acts as the owner of the named partner's business within AWS, and consistently looks for ways to strengthen the partner's differentiation and business execution with AWS
  • The PDM will help in organising and actively participating in GTM activities. Lastly the PDM is the advocate for the partner into the AWS organisation helping with various day to day activities and aligning the partner resources with AWS PSMs, with AWS Sales and BD functions
  • The PDM has a data-driven mindset and is establishing mechanisms to create operational excellence in his partner development

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
