Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles, with a proven track record in designing scalable data architectures
- Strong understanding of data management principles, data modeling and database design
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and relevant programming languages
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, and familiarity with cloud-native data services and tools like Kinesis, S3, Glue, Kafka and Athena
- Experience with IoT data processing and real-time data streams
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex data issues
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in a startup or growth-stage company
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
What the job involves
- Design and develop a scalable data architecture, integrating data from various sources such as our heat pump sensors, HubSpot, Zuper, and external providers
- Lead the restructuring of our data infrastructure to address data fragmentation and multiple sources of truth
- Develop a centralized data lake, serving as a single source of truth for business intelligence and analytics
- Optimize the setup of our data warehousing solution or recommend alternative solutions to ensure performance and cost-efficiency as we scale
- Ensure efficient ingestion and storage of our high-volume sensor data to support real-time analytics and application needs
- Define data management strategies, governance policies, and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations like GDPR
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, including the entity-relationship diagram (ERD) to illustrate data flow and structure
- Promote a data-driven culture by advocating for data quality, availability, and best practices across the organization
