  • PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience applying machine learning in industry
  • Are a phenomenal technical communicator who can collaborate across discipline boundaries
  • Experience shipping Python code to production environments
  • Experience with Data Science techniques in professional environments

Desirable

  • Postdoc in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics or related field
  • Track record of well-cited/awarded publications on relevant topics
  • Experience with algorithmic optimization in C/C++
  • Familiarity with techniques applied in medical imaging (CT, MRI) or other inverse problems

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer you will build the algorithms and models which solve our customers' toughest problems
  • You will work closely with our CT experts to understand our 2D and 3D datasets and data characteristics to design strategies that allow us to identify if the items we are scanning in our Neptune and Triton systems meet our customers’ quality criteria. Successful techniques will include analytic, computer/machine vision, and machine learning approaches
  • Build algorithms and models to turn 2D and 3D datasets from Lumafield Neptune and Triton systems into decision-making platforms to meet our customers’ needs
  • Develop and improve models for segmentation, classification, anomaly detection, and more
  • Guide the machine learning strategy internally and set Lumafield up for success on both customer-specific and generalized use cases
  • Implement production-ready code in Python for deployment onto our cloud and edge systems
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary stakeholders across Engineering to design solutions and approaches to our toughest problems

Our take

The successful design of a product depends on the intricate work of engineers, and the more information product engineers have about an object, the more they can understand how to improve it. However, this can be difficult when many object details can only be found inside them, raising the question of how product designers could benefit from X-ray CT technology.

Lumafield provides an x-ray CT platform for engineers, helping them to gain visibility into the interior details of objects and materials. The platform consists of an easy-to-use hardware scanner supported by cloud-driven analysis software, helping engineers solve challenges at every stage of the product development process.

Whilst product development engineers already have software and hardware tools for optimizing their products, these often neglect the interior intricacies of objects, and Lumafield has been smart to recognize this. By improving the visibility engineers have into the pores, voids, and cracks of design materials, the company helps designers explore new techniques with confidence, minimize expensive molding and casting failures, and stay ahead of quality standards.
