Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • Strong history of progressive experience in strategic sales management, analytics, or related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic sales plans that have driven revenue growth and market share expansion
  • Experience in Outdoor categories strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in excel, sales analytics tools such as CRM systems, Salesforce, or similar
  • Experience in developing customer segmentation models, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives based on data analysis
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team

What the job involves

  • The Category Director of Strategic Sales and Analytics for Ninja Outdoor will thrive at the forefront of our sales, analytics, and planning processes in a highly dynamic environment
  • This high-visibility role drives key business decisions to achieve our overall business objectives within the North American business
  • Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Sales and Analytics, the Category Director of Strategic Sales and Analytics will be responsible for implementing a strategic plan domestically for the Ninja brand’s outdoor business
  • They will act as a strategic advisor and expert, responsible for the development and deployment of sales strategies that enable the delivery of our financial goals and KPIs
  • The Category Director of Strategic Sales and Analytics will serve as a leadership liaison between all internal cross-functional partners to ensure communication, alignment, and execution of the sales strategy while removing barriers to success and mitigating business plan risk
  • Key interfaces include the Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Finance teams
  • The Category Director of Strategic Sales and Analytics will lead a small team of associates to analyze current business trends at the Category & Retail level, manage the category P&L, and drive global discussions on category performance
  • This role requires excellent leadership and motivational skills with a strong focus on people development
  • The incumbent must drive results through the management of both direct and indirect resources related to sales, marketing, e-commerce, finance, supply chain, operations, and external interfaces
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and increase market share in targeted categories
  • Lead the development of category-specific sales forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics
  • Oversee category analytics in analyzing sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and drive strategic decision-making
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools and techniques to generate actionable insights that inform sales strategies and initiatives
  • Develop customer segmentation models and targeted sales approaches based on data-driven insights
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the sales team, setting clear objectives, performance metrics, and expectations
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the sales organization
  • Mentor and develop sales team members, providing coaching and support to help them achieve their full potential
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, and operations to ensure alignment of sales strategies with product offerings and market positioning
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive customer-centric approaches, improve customer experience, and optimize sales processes
  • Work with the sales and marketing teams to develop and/or recommend pricing strategies, promotional initiatives, and go-to-market plans
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in the categories of focus
  • Conduct regular market analysis and competitive intelligence gathering to identify opportunities and threats
  • Translate market insights into actionable strategies to enhance our competitive position
  • Provide strategic guidance on sales trends, market dynamics, and growth opportunities
  • Develop and implement product sell-in strategies – gaining product placement selling into our retail partners
  • Roadmap – Influencing collaborating on the future product roadmap to ensure that each category will grow profitably YoY
  • Approach problems with an Obsessed With Winning Mindset – ensure there are G2M and product roadmaps to ensure we are winning share, growing YoY, and becoming more profitable each quarter

Consumer demand for new and better home appliances continues to grow. SharkNinja serves this demand by designing and manufacturing innovative home goods and devices. Specifically, it has a growing line of solutions that consist of Shark cleaning and home care products and Ninja kitchen appliances.

SharkNinja has been in operation since 1994, which is testament to the quality and popularity of its products. Since its initial launch in Canada, the company has expanded into the US and the UK. In 2017 SharkNinja was bought by CDH Private Equity for over $1.5 Billion, further proof of its impressive market value. Perhaps more evidence is that it brings in annual revenues of around $4B.

SharkNinja’s main challenge is facing down big-name competitors such as home appliance giant Dyson. In fact, through innovative design, it seized the market-leading spot in traditional vacuums from Dyson and is only second to iRobot in sales of robotic models. A 2023 IPO saw an extra $296 million in funding added to SharkNinja's pot and was followed by product launches in new sectors such as air conditioning and food cooling, indicating that the company is still full of new product ideas.
