Role

Who you are

  • You have successfully led product development lifecycles and technical product management, ideally with developer platforms and infrastructure or similar B2B products
  • You have experience or knowledge of developer ecosystems, or onboarding and growth
  • You like learning and proactively keeping up with new developer trends by reading books, watching videos, taking classes, or doing something similar
  • You possess a strong entrepreneurial drive and leadership skills

Desirable

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Staff Product Manager at Apollo, you’ll lead product vision for the core capabilities that enable Enterprises to adopt and scale Apollo’s industry-leading API composition platform, GraphOS, across their organizations
  • You will be working with engineering organizations on the suite of tools that enable them to build, manage, and operate a supergraph of any size or scale, with minimal friction and maximum developer delight
  • You’d also be responsible for our entire suite of developer tools, including GraphOS Studio (our SaaS application for developing and managing GraphOS environments, Rover (our command-line interface for performing and automating GraphOS operational tasks, our extensions for third-party IDEs like VSCode and IntelliJ), and our local development tools like GraphOS Sandbox
  • Define and drive Apollo’s vision and strategy for the GraphOS developer ecosystem
  • Build and evangelize a roadmap for these products across internal and external stakeholders. Develop and validate new GraphOS capabilities directly with industry-leading customers, such as Netflix, Paypal, Wayfair, Peloton, The New York Times, and many others
  • Own and evolve Apollo’s user experience across various product surfaces and touchpoints, from administrative tools to API interfaces and command-line tools to third-party integrations
  • You’re excited about GraphQL and modern developer tooling and are interested in helping push the industry forward

Our take

Apollo provides technology to help startups and enterprises build apps using GraphQL. It provides the data graph layer connecting modern apps to the cloud, and is the industry standard implementation for GraphQL.

Apollo claims that GraphQL wins out over competing REST APIs by offering a slicker, more bug-resistant service that does not require complex data fetching code. Certainly, the benefits of GraphQL become apparent with more complex web services or mobile applications, and this is the direction in which companies are increasingly headed as business shifts online. As such, it is unsurprising that Apollo count PayPal, New York Times, and Walmart among a roster of high-profile clients.

In recent years, Apollo has shifted online and its products are in high demand. Due to this, the company has both the resources and the strong industry reputation to continue offering it at the highest grade. Its 2022 launch of "Supergraph", a software layer designed to unify disparate data feeds and create one source for front-end developers, is a good demonstration of the company's continued dedication to innovating.
