Many traditional banks charge high fees and big penalties for being overdrawn, whilst offering low interest rates on savings. Chime is filling a gap in the banking market, mostly targeting users who have small amounts of savings and want to take advantage of automated digital banking.
Having enjoyed plenty of success to date, the company is valued at $25.5B, which is $23.5B higher than its valuation in early 2019, marking its hugely impressive and rapid growth. Nonetheless, it is also operating in a highly competitive space, with neobanks like Ally developing consumer-friendly features like budgeting tools.
