  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to distil complex concepts and issues into crisp and user-friendly communications
  • Extensive experience in working effectively with media and corporate influencers in France. An existing network of media contact is highlight desirable
  • Has relentless high standards and is action and results oriented with the ability to inspire others
  • Self-driven with ability to be both strategic and stays on top of tactical execution. Should have both attention to detail and capability to work on multiple projects in parallel
  • Excellent awareness of business environment and ability to react quickly to protect business interests

What the job involves

  • Amazon is seeking a strategic and experienced PR professional to join the communications team in France for the role of Corporate Communications Manager
  • The post-holder will develop creative, effective approaches to communications challenges
  • This role will frequently work in cross-functional teams and must be comfortable working across a range of countries, cultures, and business units
  • The candidate will communicate an excitement and enthusiasm for customers, the Amazon business and brand as a whole, with a special attention to Workplace and Operations related matters
  • Devise and lead the creation of proactive communication campaigns to maintain a pipeline of positive and engaging stories about Amazon´s work in France across multiple channels
  • Conceptualize, develop and review content to shape Amazon´s Corporate reputation in collaboration with the Business, other PR teams, as well as Public Policy, social and Marketing
  • Ensure that the content is distributed in the right format and on the right channels (owned, earned, shared, paid) to achieve maximum impact with audiences
  • Search for and develop storytelling opportunities and generate ideas for editorial projects Provide communications counsel to business executives on both short and long-term challenges and opportunities
  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges and issues / media inquiries related to the retail business
  • Develop effective outreach programmes to additional corporate stakeholders such as third-party groups

Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
