Company mission

Figma's mission is to help teams create, share, test, and ship better designs from start to finish.

Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years of design management experience
  • Experience (or at least clear interest) in working on admin or billing related features
  • Examples of partnering with internal teams to solve a complex business problem
  • Proven track record as a craftsperson and ability to teach others
  • Hands on experience with Figma, common design tooling practices, and coaching people

Desirable

  • Have a knack for visualizing and simplifying complex information
  • Already have some points of view (or experience with) Figma’s billing related areas
  • Share an affinity for the fast-paced, changing environment of a start-up, a sense of humor and get-it-done personality
  • Like to take risks with new and interesting methodologies and ideas; not satisfied with the status quo and always eager to improve both yourself and others

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for an experienced Design Leader to own and improve our monetization and enterprise related experiences at Figma
  • This involves everything from strategy around pricing and packaging, to supporting the team designing admin and licensing experiences, to figuring out how to guide customers and companies across their journey through various paid plans as they grow
  • This is an extremely important area for us to improve and get right as we continue to expand our product offering — we know our current model has not scaled well, has many challenges, and needs to be redesigned
  • We’re looking for a thoughtful leader to guide our design team through this meaningful transformation
  • You’ll manage a small team of talented designers to start, though we expect this pillar to grow given its importance to the business
  • This is a deeply cross-functional role where you’ll partner with product management, engineering, finance, research, data science, marketing, writing, and more to ensure we build the best possible experiences
  • We love working with hands-on highly motivated leaders with great taste in craft to help guide and shape the future of our design team and Figma’s business
  • Manage and hire a group of world-class designers of all experience levels
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leads in this area to improve team processes and execution and coach individual teams through setting roadmap and strategy
  • Develop a perspective on Figma’s approach to monetization and successfully advocate for it across the organization
  • Run and improve team processes like critiques and sprints to cultivate a high performing design culture
  • Improve Figma’s overall design organization practices

Our take

Figma is a web-based design platform that helps cross-functional teams of designers, project managers, and developers easily collaborate on product design projects. Its standout feature, Multiplayer mode, is like Google Docs for design, letting team members collaborate in real-time on project files that are hosted in the cloud.

Founded in 2012, Figma quickly established itself among its competitors in the sector and achieved a valuation exceeding $10 billion in 2021, boosted by a trend towards remote work. Its acquistion by Adobe for twice that amount just a year later raised eyebrows, but is a testament to the huge potential of this company and its product.

Thousands of industry-leading companies such as AirBnB, Dropbox, GitHub and Microsoft use Figma to scale their design efforts easily across distributed teams. Adobe has committed to leaving Figma autonomous going forward, and Figma will benefit from Adobe's digital imaging and AI tech in its product development.
