Who you are

  • Minimum 10-15 years in SaaS Marketing

What the job involves

  • The Marketing team’s vision is to drive a deep understanding of their customers and market to inform product, communicate the value of Dropbox, and enable sustainable growth
  • The Marketing team partners with teams across the company, including Product, Sales, Channel, Finance, Analytics, and Engineering
  • Dropbox is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Digital Marketing to join our team
  • This role is pivotal in driving our performance media, lifecycle marketing, web, and SEO strategies to fuel our growth trajectory
  • The Senior Director will support growth efforts that drive in-product revenue opportunities
  • This leader will lead various teams to activate, measure, and optimize paid media budgets, web performance, and email campaigns
  • Lastly, this individual will need to collaborate with integrated campaign and content marketing teams to develop, execute, and scale annual and quarterly plans across owned and paid channels spanning B2B and B2C audiences
  • Define annual and quarterly plans that outline the media mix investment allocations and expected outcomes across Marketing channels, routes to market, and product
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across key stakeholders, including Finance, Analytics, Growth, Product, Sales, and Integrated Campaign, to align on business objectives, resource allocation, efficiency goals, and revenue and engagement targets
  • Demonstrate strong coordination with the integrated campaign and content marketing teams to ensure consistency in targeting and messaging
  • Set the operating rhythm to provide regular performance reports, forecasts, escalations, insights, and recommendations to the executive team
  • Develop and implement innovative demand generation strategies to drive qualified leads and customer acquisition across organic and paid channels
  • Design and execute lifecycle marketing programs to nurture leads, increase customer engagement, and reduce churn. Develop personalization strategies and a/b tests to improve conversion across different stages of the customer journey
  • Lead and execute web strategies to optimize conversion and user experience, as well as ensure alignment with Dropbox’s brand and messaging
  • Create and execute a robust SEO strategy to improve organic search visibility, drive website traffic, and enhance overall search engine ranking. Monitor and analyze SEO performance and implement best practices
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop and implement marketing strategies that drive in-product revenue. Ensure marketing efforts are aligned with product roadmaps and key business objectives
  • Build and foster a collaborative and high performing Digital Marketing team who aspires to push the boundaries to capture future growth opportunities, experiments new approaches and tools for optimization, and embraces the challenge of taking calculated risks

Our take

Dropbox started by helping people bring together their files in one central place. The contents of these folders are synchronised to Dropbox's servers along with other computers and devices where the user has installed Dropbox, keeping the same files up-to-date across all devices.

Nowadays, there are lots of competing companies in cloud storage, and some with better distribution (e.g. Google and Apple). This explains why Dropbox is making a big push to reinvent itself after a fairly disappointing run since its IPO in 2018. The new Dropbox turns folders into "Spaces", which are collaboration hubs for teams, complete with comment streams, artificial intelligence tools and integrations into services such as Slack.

The company continues to build out its offerings through acquisitions, such as that of Formswift, bolstering its end-to-end agreement workflow capabilities. Indeed, It's very clear that Dropbox is trying to make a big move from being just a storage company. This seems to be a necessary move given the competitive nature of the industry it is operating within.
