Role
Who you are
- Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant discipline
- 4 years or more experience providing support to senior leadership, while navigating multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment; meaningful experience liaising with executive teams is required
- Extensive experience collaborating with external executive assistants
- Professional correspondence style for internal and external communications
- Well-organized, self-starter with a “can do” attitude who can juggle multiple tasks at once and take initiative to problem solve
- Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and discretion as you work across many teams and have access to confidential information
- Ability to work quickly and with a sense of urgency, without sacrificing quality
- Passion for our mission to bring new treatments to patients faster and more efficiently
What the job involves
- This Executive Assistant role will primarily support our Chief Business Officer (CBO) and the broader Business Development Team
- You will be responsible for planning meetings with external subject matter experts, pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, investors and a diverse set of strategic partners, globally
- You’ll anticipate and resolve administrative and operational needs before they even arise, ensuring the CBO can focus on the most critical priorities
- You will become familiar with all key teams and leaders at Formation Bio to be able to coordinate seamlessly internally and externally
- This position will expand over time to support multiple executives as our leadership team is growing
- Manage a range of administrative duties including coordinating multiple calendars, organizing external and internal meetings (virtual and in-person), and arranging extensive travel and accommodation
- Organize internal and external events, offsites, and conferences
- Work on ad hoc projects to support our Business Development efforts
- Improve internal processes and operations, including the exploration of how AI can make your work more efficient and scalable
- Be available “on-call” as needed (evenings and weekends for urgent matters)
Our take
Clinical drug trials are lengthy and expensive, delaying the supply of vital new drugs to patients and costing lives. For Formation Bio, this is an efficiency issue - one which it hopes to solve with its end-to-end automation solution.
According to the company, its approach has teams running medical trials twice as fast and at half the cost. It's worked so well, in fact, that Formation Bio is looking to take drug development in-house.
Now a Unicorn, the company has secured heavyweights like Pfizer, Sanofi, Novartis and 23andMe as partners. Precisely how it will fare in the Big Pharma ecosystem remains to be seen, but the promise of cheaper drugs and faster innovation is certainly causing a stir in a market that has historically been resistant to both.
