Who you are

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Technical Engineering Manager
  • Have experience leading a large or multiple full-stack software engineering teams
  • Technical background with hands on experience in building end to end full-stack systems
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor individuals and the team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to balance technical and business considerations while delivering high quality results
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and prioritization across multiple fronts

What the job involves

  • The Support Experience team is a critical team that handles systems that assist our customers when things aren’t going well for them. We own support ticketing, status pages, and internal support tools (as a small example of our surface area). Due to our function, this team has a rare glimpse into customers needs and is uniquely situated to drive improvements that potentially improve the lives of all our customers. If you care deeply about the customer experience and trying to make it as great as possible, this is the team for you
  • You’ll be responsible for delivering the product roadmap, developing the talent of the team and building a team centered on people and engineering excellence. You’ll do this while working with the engineers, our stakeholders, and the voice of the customer helping to guide your choices
  • Build and foster inclusive, innovative, and high performance team
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development sessions
  • Identify and nurture talent, promoting growth and skill development
  • Partner with every individual on the team to enhance their skills through coaching, training, and mentoring while aligning it to their personal and company goals
  • Define and enforce unified patterns and practices for backend services and APIs
  • Oversee and contribute to the design and implementation of reusable building blocks for dashboards and backends
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, performance and reliability
  • Drive the adoption of technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead and oversee technical and engineering roadmaps to ensure inclusion in overall all plan
  • Work closely with your leadership and product to align technical strategy with overall business goals
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage the delivery of projects and initiatives while aligning with business goals
  • Work with product, designers and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliverables
  • Represent the teams in cross-functional meetings including providing updates on progress and risks
  • Facilitate effective communication within the teams and stakeholders building transparency and alignment

Okta started off as an identity company where organisations, large and small, could tap into the company to have a single sign-on interface to access all cloud applications now centralised. Okta has since expanded to provide identity management at the device as well as the server level.

The new approach towards network security is increasingly based on identification and authentication, and Okta is on track to become the go-to vendor in the space. They aim to do so by developing products that enable people to access applications and other tools more smoothly and securely than ever before.

Okta has taken strides towards expansion through significant employee growth and shuffling executive leadership. The company has also made lateral moves such as tackling governance concerns, opening up new paths for revenue.
