Company mission

To train the future of every industry and open up new opportunities for people across the globe.

Role

Who you are

  • At least 3 years of experience in Product Management. You will be owning a significant investment Transfr is making so this should not be your first Product experience, most likely having already scaled a product from early adoption to mass market
  • Education and/or Ed Tech experience. You will be interacting frequently with schools and need to deeply understand how a school operates and realities of implementing new products in a school environment. That said, we do know people can learn new industries so the ability to learn quickly, be curious, and strong empathy could be a substitute
  • Experience working in a fast paced, venture-backed SaaS startup environment
  • You have a desire to make the world a better place through technology and education
  • You can create and communicate a really clear roadmap but are flexible to iterate based on customer feedback and usage data
  • You can think in terms of the big picture, but deliver on the details
  • You are intensely curious and yet have a strong bias for action and delivery
  • You are highly evidence-based in their decision making and yet understands the importance of looking beyond the data
  • You view engineering and designers as equal partners in solving customer problems and empower them with context so they can design and implement solutions
  • Beyond just shipping new products, you obsess about continuous product improvement

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for Transfr’s first outside-of-VR product supporting Career Exploration to get people onto a career pathway
  • You will own this new product, that is currently in Closed Beta, growing it from an early and enthusiastic customer base through a public launch and scaling to become an industry leading product
  • This will involve collaborating across all levels of the company including with Executives and the CEO
  • Determine what short and long-term investments we should make for customers and prospects as needed to achieve goals
  • Completely own all aspects of the new product line by partnering closely with both immediate engineering and designs team, but also Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to bring the product to market
  • Beyond just incorporating customer feedback, proactively go identify ideal customers and understand what would make them thrilled to use our product
  • Define your key performance indicator(s) that drive company goals, and achieve them
  • Do whatever it takes to make your product and team successful, whether that means writing a QA plan or hunting down the root cause of a user’s frustration

Our take

In today's labor market, around 6 million Americans are out of work. Working populations suffer from wage and qualification inequalities, particularly among women, low-income families, and people of colour. Transfr was created to bridge the gap between work-based learning and classroom instruction so students can better develop their careers.

It is an immersive learning startup using virtual reality to simulate on-the-job training. Transfr leverages virtual reality to create simulations of manufacturing-plant shop floors or warehouses for training purposes. Transfr's solution has become even more relevant in recent years as an ongoing labour shortage has meant that employees in high-growth industries have to find new ways of reaching and rapidly upskilling promising new talent.

Because of this, virtual reality technologies are growing in popularity among employers and training providers. One of the biggest challenges for Transfr’s technology is the production costs of the VR simulations. However, Transfr is using the significant funding it has raised to reduce its production costs while simultaenously finetuning the quality and expanding the range of its simulations.
