Role
Who you are
- A wealth of experience in Backend development with the Java ecosystem
- Proven production experience with Java, SpringBoot, MySQL, Message Systems & GIT
- Has worked with Domain Driven Design, and Clean, or Hexagonal- Architecture
- Deep knowledge of AWS services (SQS, SNS, S3…), ElasticSearch, Redis, GitHub Actions, Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with building scalable solutions
- Enjoys actively participating in a cross-functional product team
- Takes pride in writing quality code
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java), to be a part of our Product Teams that define, build and deliver our product features
- Working in a product team means you will work towards specific outcomes with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best route to achieve them together with the other Engineers and Product members of the Team
- Your mission will be to help refine, design, implement, deliver and maintain various product features
- You will be one of several developers, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and will bring your knowledge and expertise to the table
- As a Senior you will actively support your engineering lead in delivering a quality, maintainable and international top-class product, whilst being a role model for less-senior team members, by taking responsibility for problems and using your expertise to identify the right solutions
- Build and evolve our backend services and infrastructure to stay ahead of our growth curve
- Develop exciting new features to make the developer experience better for you and other backend engineers
- Actively participate in your team’s agile development processes with a continuous improvement mindset
- Strive to deliver international top-class products with maximum quality, maintainability and scalability
- Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team to continue to grow and expand your skills

Our take
With more than one-third of food wasted in shops and restaurants, tonnes of otherwise quality goods are unnecessarily lost. Too Good To Go connects customers to restaurants and stores that have unsold, surplus food, offering steep discounts. Through this, businesses can sell surplus meals that would've otherwise gone to waste, and the environment wins as no food is wasted.
The company has certainly found its niche with sustainability-conscious consumers (a group that is growing in size as environmentally-focused consumers get more spending power). Too Good To Go's app has over 90M users across 18 countries and 215,000+ partners including retailers, hotels and restaurants such as ALDI, Carrefour, Accor and YO! Sushi.
The company is also creating a food waste movement website intended to be an informative source of knowledge regarding the issue. This is part of a wider strategy at raising awareness of the food waste problem, to get more users on board and further help the planet.
