Company mission

Figma's mission is to help teams create, share, test, and ship better designs from start to finish.

Role

Who you are

  • We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineer to join Figma as we explore new frontiers in collaborative tooling across product teams, and to help answer the question: “What if there’s an even better way to build products?”
  • If you thrive in open-ended environments and are eager to solve some of the most complicated people-problems in our industry, we want to hear from you
  • 5+ years of experience in programming languages (Typescript/Javascript, React, C++, Python, Java, Objective-C, Go, or Rust)
  • Proven track record of shipping user-facing features or products that have made significant impact
  • Ability to independently collaborate across functions, including PM, design, marketing, and other engineering teams
  • Experience with the full development lifecycle, from concept to launch, including go-to-market strategies
  • A passion for mentoring and elevating the technical skills of your peers

Desirable

  • Experience working with complex data models and applications that require dynamic, user-facing content delivery at scale
  • Experience leading development on large-scale web applications or native applications
  • Familiarity with product design and the user research process, and the ability to engage with these functions to do your best work
  • Demonstrated fluency in React, C++ and WebGL

What the job involves

  • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on 0-to-1 products that will redefine how teams across the globe create, manage, and collaborate on digital content throughout the entire development lifecycle
  • You’ll work closely with design, product management, and research teams to help our users turn imagination into reality by radically streamlining how ideas transform into products — and you will do so in a way that keeps simple things simple, while making complex things possible
  • Lead the development and launch of new features and products, from ideation through to shipping
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, content marketers, designers, and researchers to define and execute on the product roadmap
  • Engage in brainstorming sessions and technical discussions that influence the direction of our strategy
  • Contribute to and drive the technical vision for our next generation of products and frameworks, working in a dynamic environment where iteration and candid feedback are essential
  • Participate in all stages of development, including engineering and design crits, code reviews, and user testing, to ensure we build something that truly delights our users
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Our take

Figma is a web-based design platform that helps cross-functional teams of designers, project managers, and developers easily collaborate on product design projects. Its standout feature, Multiplayer mode, is like Google Docs for design, letting team members collaborate in real-time on project files that are hosted in the cloud.

Founded in 2012, Figma quickly established itself among its competitors in the sector and achieved a valuation exceeding $10 billion in 2021, boosted by a trend towards remote work. Its acquistion by Adobe for twice that amount just a year later raised eyebrows, but is a testament to the huge potential of this company and its product.

Thousands of industry-leading companies such as AirBnB, Dropbox, GitHub and Microsoft use Figma to scale their design efforts easily across distributed teams. Adobe has committed to leaving Figma autonomous going forward, and Figma will benefit from Adobe's digital imaging and AI tech in its product development.
