Who you are

  • The candidate should demonstrate a proven track record for managing effective consumer campaigns for large, fast-moving organisations in the UK, including delivering earned media, social media, and influencer relations activity
  • They will have a deep understanding of the earned and social media landscape in the UK, be passionate about their craft, be an excellent writer, and have an ambition to do great, meaningful work
  • The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, who can collaborate closely with teams throughout the business, as well as with stakeholders outside the business including media, influencers, creators, and agency partners
  • They should enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture, and will have experience in either an agency or in-house role

  • Social and influencer minded: able to build integrated campaigns that leverage new and emerging digital media including social and influencers
  • Several years of experience in a creative communications role either within a PR Agency or in-house
  • Extensive experience that demonstrates a comfort in dealing with high-level consumer media contacts across news, lifestyle, and broadcast sectors
  • Strong, business-focused writing skills
  • Hands-on experience of digital and social media as well as influencer marketing / communication
  • Issues management experience including development of messaging and Q&A documents
  • Strong competency in basic Office software (Outlook, Excel etc.)

What the job involves

  • Amazon is seeking a self-motivated and creative individual as a PR Manager for the retail function in the UK
  • They will be responsible for delivering campaigns for large scale shopping moments, which could include events like Prime Day and Black Friday, and creating activity that demonstrates the value customers get while shopping with Amazon
  • This role will be part of the International Stores Comms organisation at Amazon and will report to the Head of Consumer Comms in the UK
  • Develop and manage integrated PR campaigns around key retail moments
  • Deliver campaigns and launches around shopping innovations
  • Write campaign plans, messaging, and media-facing materials
  • Build relations with key media, and be able to pitch and secure top tier coverage
  • Deliver counsel to internal executives on PR challenges and opportunities
  • Work closely with agencies and wider international teams to devise and implement PR activity
  • Work closely with internal teams across the business to deliver projects to deadline
  • Successfully manage fast-moving, complex PR challenges from both the business and the media
  • Support with issues management and crisis comms related to the UK retail business

On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
