Company mission

To connect digital experiences to the physical world with a location platform for every app, every device, and every developer.

Role

Who you are

  • Have experience managing a production AWS environment via Terraform
  • Have experience with 5 9's multi-region production infrastructure
  • Have experience managing large sharded Mongo clusters with heavy read-write workloads
  • Be interested in talking to customers or prospects and making them successful

Desirable

  • Are a former technical co-founder
  • Have experience with high throughput data intensive applications

What the job involves

  • We're looking for Site Reliability Engineers to work on our production infrastructure. Radar is a high-throughput, data intensive application handling 1 billion+ API calls per day
  • Over the past year, Radar has been used from over 100M devices worldwide. We run a multi-availability zone architecture and a major initiative is to enhance our deployment to be multi-region
  • Work on core Radar infrastructure using Terraform all deployed to AWS via Docker
  • Work on critical company-level initiatives, for example, 99.999% availability, multi-region deployment, and cloud cost-saving activities
  • Have your work be used by 100's of millions of devices
  • Be part of the on-call rotation (one week rotation every 1-2 months)
  • Talk to Radar customers and prospects, hear their feedback, incorporate it into your work and make them successful

Application process

  • After a brief call with our CTO, we'll invite you to our NYC HQ for an interview if we think there is a possible match
  • During that time we'll work on system design problems together and do some coding for 2 hours to build something simple
  • You'll meet one of our co-founders and we'll also go into more depth about how we work to see if there is a match

Our take

Radar connects digital experiences to the real world by supplying companies and brands with real time location data on their users. Developers integrate Radar into their apps and then create geofences around physical locations. These trigger notifications for users when they enter.

Unlike most of its competitors who monetise the data collected, Radar prices its platform based on the number of active users. It has attracted investors from a number of impressive funds including Accel. The platform itself was built with the highest form of privacy and security controls, at the same time educating users around building location-based experiences the right way.

At a time when privacy is paramount, this focus has propelled Radar's growth to dizzying heights, and the company has secured good levels of funding. This has been invested in scaling operations, expanding its team, improving platform capabilities and broadening its reach across key verticals.
