Fandoms are on the rise, with companies and cultural brands recognizing the lucrative potential of increased fan engagement and increasingly courting audiences with additional content. Fandom (previously Wikia) is a company leveraging this trend by providing a mainstream multi-platform home for the rise of fan-targeted content and experiences through a multi-property, multimedia business.

Fandom has more than 350 million monthly active users and 250,000 wiki communities. Its advertising revenue model, in an industry defined by internet participation and loyal engagement, has been an astute move from the start and has helped propel it to a leading position, as have a spate of multimedia and media asset acquisitions since 2018.

New features long requested by the community rolled out in 2022, including Interactive Wiki Maps and Fandom Trivia. Fandom is still working on evolving map tools and implementing further new features, such as custom map markers and more. This will provide its community with more immersive opportunities for fan exploration, with the company aiming to attract new users to continue its growth.
