Company mission

To empower teams to create the next big thing.

Role

Who you are

  • 10+ years of product design experience, and managing product and brand design systems at scale
  • Exceptional design craft with a strong portfolio in visual interface design, showcasing expertise in scaling visual and motion design concepts across different applications and platforms
  • At least 2 years experience in leading design teams with a focus on design systems and accessibility
  • Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design documentation and system governance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, supported by a cross-functional collaboration mentality and leadership skill

What the job involves

  • As a leader within the Design System team, you will drive the vision and evolution of Miro's product design language, design execution and delivery according to Miro's design principles and accessibility standards
  • You will set the bar for design quality across the organisation
  • In addition to driving the vision for our Design System, you will manage a small team of senior designers and collaborate closely with the product and engineering partners on the team
  • You will help define the vision of the design system, providing direction to brand and product designers by evolving and systemising Miro's product design language
  • This role requires a systematic approach to solution design, combined with strong product design skills, a strong sense of aesthetic, a passion for complex problem solving, experience with the latest accessibility standards, and outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Evolve and scale Miro's product design language to create a modern, unique user experience that aligns with Miro's brand identity
  • Engage with senior leadership and functional leaders to craft and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for Miro’s Design System
  • Provide strategic and creative direction to the team in the execution of this vision
  • Lead design craft critiques and reviews to drive and elevate design quality across the organisation, and being hands on when needed to articulate ideas and concepts
  • Lead and grow the design system team, and develop a culture of shared ownership and collaboration across the design organisation and cross-functional teams

Our take

Millions of employees worldwide have moved to remote working, but existing tools are holding back the potential for collaboration. Tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams already provide remote communication platforms to millions of users, but they generally compromise on features required to emulate the team collaboration experience.

Miro has created a platform that provides enterprise tools such as collaborative whiteboards and mind-map software into an accessible and integrated service. As opposed to providing an 'all-in-one' add on, Miro allows businesses to customize and integrate the tools and resources within their individual platform to cater to the team's specific requirements.

Miro’s initial strategy of offering free and discounted subscriptions and then moving to paid models has paid off. The platform currently has over 35 million users and is trusted by enterprises such as VMware, Zendesk and Frog. As part of its ongoing battle with Zoom, Miro acquired video-chat startup Around in 2022, to remain competitive in the market.
