Who you are
- Over 3 years of relevant experience as a technical program manager
- Past success in managing validation and testing across technical projects in fields such as automotive, aerospace, transportation, or medical devices
- Demonstrated skill in aligning priorities, coordinating timelines, and leading complex scope, resource, and schedule trades
- Enthusiasm for collaborating in a fast paced, cross-functional environment
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain challenges and solutions to fellow engineers and non-engineers alike
- Must be able to work in person splitting time between Zipline’s Half Moon Bay facility and South San Francisco office
What the job involves
- System Prototype and Test is a multi-disciplinary hardware and software team responsible for the development and deployment of flight prototypes and automated test systems from the early stages of a project through to production and field release
- As the Technical Program Manager for the System Prototype and Test team, you will be the focal point for coordinating resources across the electrical, mechanical, and software engineering sub teams working on vehicles and testers from prototyping through production and all the way to field deployment
- You will work with various team leads to develop and coordinate the execution of comprehensive test plans for both hardware and software
- You will work within the team and across engineering to align priorities, coordinate timelines, and lead complex scope, resource, and schedule trades

- Manage hardware and software roadmaps across programs: balance, drive, and align key features while surfacing gaps and mitigating risks to projects
- Measure and improve development velocity: own engineering timelines, unblock teams, cross-check plans, and streamline cross-functional dependencies
- Engage across the development lifecycle: from architecture reviews, through validation, and into volume production
- Engage across electrical, mechanical, validation, and embedded software domains to drive coherent execution across major projects
- Translate and integrate company goals into our sub-teams execution strategy

As the first emergency drone logistics operation, Zipline is fundamentally changing how we transport emergency medical supplies and has expanded into commercial deliveries. It's partnered with several major companies, including Walmart.

It’s also one of the first companies to receive a full commercial operating certificate, putting Zipline in a strong position to continuously branch out to other markets.
The unicorn company operates globally and has signed its first government contract with Rwanda to provide up to 2 million drone deliveries by 2029. It is also aiming to start commercial deliveries to individual households in the near future. With big companies such as Amazon and Walmart examining “instant” delivery options, Zipline has a proven track record and the equipment and logistics in place to provide such services. 2023 funding pushed Zipline's valuation to a staggering $4.2 billion, indicating a bright future.
