Company mission

Amazon aims to be Earth’s most customer centric company. Their mission is to continually raise the bar of the customer experience by using the internet and technology to help consumers find, discover and buy anything, and empower businesses and content creators to maximise their success.

Role

Who you are

  • You will bring your experience launching and managing best-in-class Social presences and campaigns for major brands (agency or client side)
  • You are genuinely passionate about Entertainment - if you spend your weekends recommending what show or movie your friends should watch next, that’s a great start
  • You have a deep understanding of what content resonates across the Social Media landscape
  • You obsessively keep up with the latest digital trends, and you’ve probably introduced friends and family to your favorite Creators and handles
  • You stay curious, have ruthlessly high standards, and you're able to seamlessly switch between 'doing it yourself' and 'sprinkling magic dust' on agency work
  • You're comfortable using data to test, evaluate and refine your output - and prove impact
  • You are comfortable moving between right and left brain thinking, with your day-to-day including both creative and innovative thinking and diving deep in measurement and process improvement
  • You are willing to be based in Amsterdam and travel when required
  • Fluent level of English and Dutch (verbal & and written)
  • Extensive experience in developing and managing Social channels and campaigns of significant scale for brands
  • Experience in using data and metrics to measure and report impact and shape action plans
  • Experience in creating engaging Social content
  • Agency steering experience
  • Extensive know-how about the ever-changing Social Media landscape
  • Entertainment experience

Desirable

  • Deep knowledge of Pop Culture/Movies/TV/Music
  • Editorial experience in digital publishing world
  • Experience with paid Social Media

What the job involves

  • We’re Amazon Prime Video’s in-house EU Social Media team
  • Our ambition is to connect authentically with customers through topical and locally-nuanced stories that entertain, delight or inspire. This involves planning, creating, iterating and distributing bespoke Editorial Content in various formats through Social Media platforms
  • We strive to make our feeds as engaging as our customers’ favourite TV shows
  • We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and performance-oriented Senior Social Media Manager with a fluent level of English and Dutch to help grow our business in the Netherlands
  • Support the development and implement channel and growth strategies for Prime Video's Social presence in the Netherlands
  • Support the development and implement standout campaigns for local as well as global priority launches and distinct Editorial content across Prime Video's NL Social handles that drive follower growth, engagement and watch time
  • Drive highest-bar measurement and analytics of Social campaigns and Editorial across Social platforms including cadenced reporting
  • Tap into topical trending content and make Prime Video part of the conversation
  • Partner closely with internal (e.g. Marketing, PR, Content Teams) and external stakeholders (e.g. agencies, production companies, talent) to ensure strong working relationships and outputs
  • Collaborate with Social platform partners to identify new opportunities and ensure the business is adopting the latest product features and best practices
  • Input into Social campaign and always-on content budget

Our take

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
