Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of Software Development experience, and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
- Expertise in modern TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and CSS
- Ability to design and implement heavily used services and systems
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working on Design Systems: building and maintaining reusable UI foundation and components is a plus
- ARIA and accessibility experience is a plus
- Experience with CI/CD systems and testing frameworks is a plus
- Expertise in at least one server-side web application language is a plus. Python/Django, Java, and SQL experience is a plus
- Strong desire to learn new technologies
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic startup environment
- Ability to mentor junior engineers across teams
- Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
- Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values
What the job involves
- As a Senior Front End Engineer on the Blocks team, you will be responsible for contributing to the architecture, usability, and reliability of Blocks, Nextdoor’s Design System
- We are building a new Web Design System from the ground up
- You will build and maintain UI foundation and components, improve Front End infrastructure, and support product engineers
- You will also collaborate closely with our designers to provide polished and delightful user experience
- Future projects include building a new documentation website and a responsive grid layout component
