Role

Who you are

  • Everlaw is looking for a highly-motivated and self-starter product designer with meticulous attention to detail and a process-driven mindset to lead the design of Bluebook, Everlaw’s design system
  • If you’re looking for a place that values passion, integrity, thinking big, and a desire to learn, we’d love to hear from you!
  • We’re excited for you to learn, grow, and contribute right away! We trust that you’ll bring experience and knowledge that will uplevel the team and our product, but we don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1
  • You have a history of elevating design teams through systems work that are user-centered and effective, while appropriately addressing and reducing downstream impacts
  • You’re comfortable defining and championing processes that make both Product Design and Engineering teams more effective
  • You have strong expertise in governing and scaling a design system
  • You combine your exemplary design skills, critical thinking skills, and systems thinking to thoughtfully and creatively craft solutions to complex problems
  • You highly value feedback and collaboration. You believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, you are thankful for others calling out when a solution might not work and will exercise good judgment and iterate accordingly. You also believe that developing features requires teamwork, careful coordination, and clear communication
  • You think in terms of systems and consider their long-term usage. You can distill designs into shareable components, patterns, and behaviors
  • You are a self-starter who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and driven to ensure your work is implemented efficiently
  • You are familiar with front-end development frameworks like React, HTML, and CSS that enables you to represent the Product Design team and work effectively with the Engineering team

Desirable

  • You have at least 5 years designing experiences for B2B SaaS products, including 3 years designing for a B2B SaaS design system
  • You have an aptitude for strategic product thinking that makes you a distinguished partner to the Product Design and Engineering teams
  • You have experience creating visual assets such as illustrations and icon families
  • You have experience leading design sprints and workshops
  • You have experience advocating for accessibility and can advise on coding practices with accessibility in mind

What the job involves

  • You will combine your drive for pixel-perfection with a pragmatic approach that strikes the right balance between flexibility and robustness in the components you create
  • Your product mindset and focus on collaboration will be the primary driver behind our design system’s roadmap
  • Your work will matter — the experience you design for using Bluebook will streamline the front-end development process and make it more intuitive to design for Everlaw, resulting in a more modern, consistent, and accessible experience for Everlaw users
  • You will be a part of our Product organization which guides the strategy and development of our products
  • We deliver value to our users by setting our product roadmap and executing on high-quality product development with efficiency and keen attention to what users need
  • Our products serve as the fundamental driver of value to our users, and support the success of our business
  • We take pride in not only creating a powerful and intuitive user experience, but in supporting users with our product documentation and certification program
  • Become product certified! You will learn the ins and outs of the Everlaw platform through a series of training modules
  • Design and define interaction patterns through components, documentation, and prototypes
  • Provide respectful, insightful, and actionable feedback to other designers’ components and platform feature work to ensure an elegant and cohesive user experience
  • Ensure an effective and accessible implementation of a high-quality design system through regular collaboration with Engineering partners
  • Audit and revise the component library on an ongoing basis to ensure it remains production-ready, meets our standards, and remains an effective tool
  • Design increasingly complex and overarching components with the big picture in mind while caring for the small details and their downstream impact
  • Partner with product designers to identify gaps in the platform, and advocate for additions to the design system roadmap that will address them
  • Act as an owner for building and maintaining Bluebook, Everlaw’s design system, setting the vision and the standards for brand alignment, quality, consistency, and accessibility
  • Improve our design and product development processes by collaborating with the teams and using your process-driven mindset to address inefficiencies
  • Be a passionate ambassador for our design system, championing standards and accessibility within the Product Design team and cross-functionally on Everlaw-wide initiatives
  • We want you to feel like part of the team early on! Our onboarding process will integrate you into the company with informative sessions on our product, policies, processes, and team structure and goals

Our take

Everlaw builds technology to help corporations, law firms and government entities solve the toughest problems in the legal industry. The company's platform includes features to help speed up legal work, freeing up time to be spent on more value-add activities. Everlaw’s clients include 8 of the top 10 class action firms in the US and is used by state attorneys general in every state in the US.

The legaltech space is growing fast. It's a big industry where a lot of money is spent, but it has been largely untouched by technology until recently, leaving a big opportunity. The company expanded to Australia and New Zealand following a partnership with Australian e-discovery provider Adio.

Everlaw has also been testing ChatGPT since it launched as it has accelerated development and integration of of generative AI. The company is also pursuing growth for its Everlaw for Good Program, seen at the 2024 Equal Justice Conference in Detroit, appointing its first program director, enhancing its generative AI offerings, and increasing investment to dismantle barriers to justice for low-income Americans and marginalised communities in need of legal representation.
