  • 8+ years of c-suite speech writing and executive communications experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrate a proactive work ethic by meeting deadlines with a focus on quality and accuracy. Possess strong attention to detail and proficient copy editing skills
  • Understanding of multimedia, visual storytelling, and modern communications platforms

  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills
  • Media relations experience identifying and securing opportunities, building relationships, and preparing spokespeople

What the job involves

  • The Executive Communications Director is the CEO's key communications partner, amplifying the CEO's voice and vision to elevate the organization's brand recognition and drive its strategic goals
  • Reporting to the CEO's Chief of Staff and working directly with the CEO, this position collaborates closely with Brand Communications, Marketing, Internal Communications, and Investor Relations and will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive executive thought leadership strategy across multiple channels
  • Working in tandem with communication counterparts, the role ensures that executive messages and content align harmoniously with broader communication strategies and media plans
  • Develop and execute an annual strategic executive communications plan for the CEO, driving brand awareness and advancing critical business objectives through messaging development and content creation in key areas such as product launches, partnerships, events, and thought leadership
  • Write, edit, and produce high-quality and engaging content for various communication platforms, such as executive presentations, speeches, blogs, newsletters, social media, webinars, and events
  • Oversee CEO social media accounts to ensure strong, creative, and positive visibility
  • Collaborate with the internal communications team to ensure coordinated internal-external strategy and messaging
  • Identify subject matter areas and craft narratives for different engagements; work closely with Workiva’s external communications team to coordinate media engagement and strategy, Workiva’s employee communications team to drive internal communications, and Workiva’s marketing team to build visual stories
  • Leverage writing and creative storytelling skills to build presentations, bylines, op-eds, media sound bites, and social media content
  • Serve as program manager for key communications moments, including events, conferences, news launches, and more
