Who you are
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant full stack development experience across back-end such as Python, Nodejs, and front-end experience including JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent
- Familiarity with micro-service architecture
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or other STEM-related field or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrable cloud computing experience
- Prior e-commerce experience preferred
- A knack for engineering simple solutions to solve complex problems
- Self-driven; pragmatic; a passion for taking ownership of your work and delivering outcomes
- Ability to work remote-first in a high-growth company
- Ability to demonstrate high self-sufficiency to take on and complete projects promptly
- We need our engineers to be versatile, display ownership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward
- Experience with Python, Serverless, Kubernetes, and Cloud Platforms such as GCP or AWS, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript

What the job involves
- The Foundation Services team is a place for engineers who are passionate about exploring ideas and implementing the right ones for the business rapidly to provide an ever-improving platform for our development team’s delivery
- We create and drive platform-level features that enable teams to provide high-scale functionality to our merchants
- Responsibilities include our eventing system, serverless compute architecture, processing all inbound and outbound webhook traffic, and a sophisticated multi-object cache and search infrastructure used throughout Recharge
- We're looking for engineers with cloud computing experience who like to collaborate closely with others and relentlessly seek ways to improve our code base, processes, and themselves
- Build high-impact, high-performance, high-scale products
- Understand roadmap priorities and write solid code - first launch something useful, and as the code progresses ensure scalability, testability, supportability, and maintainability
- Puzzle-solving and debugging issues across multiple levels of the stack
- Perform thorough code reviews and provide useful feedback
- Lean in as needed when duty call

Ecommerce platform Recharge has been in operation since 2014, helping brands set up and manage a subscription business, removing the operational inefficiencies that brands would face when attempting to manage this themselves. Its cloud-based subscription management platform aims to offer merchants flexibility by leading with an API focus.
Recharge’s basic premise has proven a smart one, with the eCommerce subscription market growing substantially since the company was founded. It of course rose particularly steeply over the pandemic, with the closure of brick-and-mortar stores, but in general still follows a market trend towards direct-to-consumer relationships - promising a growing market for Recharge going forwards.
Success for the company has been clear, with its merchant roster boasting several thousand users including Harry’s, Oatly, and BrewDog. The sector has attracted substantial funding, with Reacharge completing a remarkable funding round in 2021. This came atop its already stable, cash-flow positive business, and supported its further progress as the subscription industry developed. Nowadays the company seems focussed on maintaining its strong position, with new updates and improvements to its offering.
