Role

Who you are

  • A relevant degree or comparable formal training, certification, and/or work experience
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an analytical role
  • Intermediate or better SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Power BI), for data visualization and reporting
  • Familiarity with using tools like dbt (Data Build Tool) for data transformation workflows and data modeling and IDEs like Visual Studio Code for writing and debugging code
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation is a plus
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and data modeling and familiarity with experimental design and A/B testing methodologies is advantageous
  • Understanding of marketplace dynamics and interest in the key business drivers in a three-sided marketplace to identify growth opportunities and optimize performance
  • Familiarity in optimizing key metrics like Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and paid media performance metrics (ROI, ROAS) to drive cost effective marketing strategies and assess the long-term value of customers
  • Understanding of various customer acquisition channels, including paid media, organic growth, and referral programs
  • Proven ability to analyze partnership revenue models and market trends to optimize markup and commission structures, pricing strategies, develop effective promotions, and enhance digital merchandising to drive conversions, Favor + Partner sales growth and customer engagement
  • Familiarity working with any/all of the following is a plus: Salesforce Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud Intelligence, Braze, Branch, and/or Segment for managing sales data, campaign tracking, omni-channel engagement, mobile attribution, and customer data acquisition
  • Experience with Snowflake and/or similar modern cloud data architecture (e.g. Databricks, Redshift) for data warehousing, including performance tuning, data storage, and retrieval optimizations

What the job involves

  • We are looking for an Analyst to join our Business Analytics team. In this role, you will leverage first- and third-party data to generate insights about our customers, Runners, retail partners, and products
  • You’ll form strong relationships with the internal stakeholder teams you support and ultimately help drive strategy and success for their respective area. Title and compensation will be informed by experience level
  • Drive the business forward by defining and capturing key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the impact of specific product features, programs, and operational initiatives
  • Develop and maintain a suite of self-service reporting that puts the most critical KPIs in the hands of your stakeholders
  • Develop and communicate recommendations proactively to stakeholders and partner with them on successful implementation
  • Leverage customer, Runner and marketplace data to make recommendations for best-in-class experiences
  • Analyze content performance to understand how in-app selection, pricing, display and sort order influence engagement, with the ultimate goal of turning 100% of sessions into conversions
  • Identify and resolve gaps in data completeness and accuracy to continually improve our data ecosystem
  • Grow the collective Business Analytics team knowledge base through process documentation
  • Use analytical and problem solving skills to interpret and synthesize large data sets and translate these data insights you’ve gained into actionable business recommendations
  • Utilize data sets in conjunction with the key business drivers that impact Favor’s three-sided marketplace to identify growth opportunities and optimize performance

Our take

More and more people are looking to get things delivered fast, and businesses are trying to find inventive ways to meet the demand and get people’s purchases to them as quickly as possible. Favor solves this problem, with an on-demand delivery service that depends on “runners” to get products to customers quickly.

Customers can browse on the Favor app and select items from their list or input items from other stores in the delivery zone, and Favor runners will collect the item and deliver it within an hour. For customers in a hurry, this is obviously appealing. While many on-demand delivery services struggle to scale, Favor itself has managed to scale its operations across Texas and expanded into Philadelphia in mid 2022.

This centralization has given the company an advantage over competitors who have since gone out of business, but it isn’t yet clear if other competitors will imitate Favor's approach to gain market share. The company faces strong challenges from deep-pocketed rivals like DoorDash and Uber Eats.
