Who you are

  • Possess a depth of expertise in enterprise logging solutions, utilizing Splunk
  • 7+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, services, system administration, and/or engineer roles
  • 5+ years of experience working with Splunk platform
  • Deep knowledge of strategies for operationalizing logs across infrastructure providers (i.e., on-premises, Amazon Web Services, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Working-level experience in at least one scripting language (python, bash, etc.)
  • Experience presenting complex technical topics to all audiences, from working-level administrators to executive stakeholders
  • Expertise in the execution of projects and deliverables to support technology customers’ understanding and ability to capture the full value of their data platform investments
  • Experience assembling and navigating cross-functional teams to drive business and customer outcomes
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent communication - both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively lead others in a highly-collaborative team environment
  • Excellent presentation skills and an expert in using data to articulate a story or issue in a Tell-Show-Tell format
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to adapt to evolving priorities, with a dedication to championing the customer and your team
  • Ability to be organized and analytical, and will be able to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches
  • IMPORTANT: We can teach you the technology, coach you on soft skills and educate you on processes. You should have a strong sense of self-motivation, an insatiable curiosity about what “is possible” with technology, the desire to work with an awesome team and a positive, fun-loving attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Available to travel to visit prospects and customers in the region
  • Native German and fluent English

  • Expertise in other enterprise logging or monitoring capabilities (e.g., Elastic, Prometheus, DataDog, etc.)

What the job involves

  • Splunk Platform Consulting Solution Engineers (m/f/d) are experienced customer-facing engineers with demonstrable expertise of the Splunk Enterprise as well as Splunk Cloud Platform
  • As one of Splunk’s specialized, technical customer-facing resources, you will be a key participant in the advancement of customers' Splunk architecture, inclusive of Cloud and customer-managed deployment expansions and/or migrations
  • As a Consulting Solution Engineer you will provide customers and account teams with technical and domain expertise for advanced and complex Splunk architecture and data management solutions
  • You will research and communicate the value of leveraging Splunk’s capabilities to address data challenges at massive scale across on-premise, hybrid, and Cloud deployments
  • You will guide customers through their Splunk growth journey, recommending Splunk capabilities that are applicable to their environment, maturity, and future state objectives
  • After assisting successful sales opportunities, you will ensure operationalization of key designs and solutions needed to facilitate customer business outcomes with the Splunk
  • This role requires a self-motivated continuous learner that has a deep desire to apply Splunk to assist customers through a wide range of challenges, i.e., getting data in (data onboarding, field extraction, transformation and normalization), data analysis (create searches using Splunk Processing Language, dashboards, reports), third party integration
  • Customer interactions will cover a wide range of engagements
  • Some examples include assessing customer use-cases against Splunk architectures and capabilities, providing guidance to customers on available patterns that meet their business objectives, presenting to senior customer staff, and partnering with Sales Engineers to position and operationalize data and use-case expansion with Splunk
  • A successful Splunk Platform Consulting Solution Engineer (m/f/d) will not only maintain a technical understanding of Splunk’s solutions, but also build cross-functional relationships with Sales Engineers as well as other Splunk teams, fostering a supportive mentoring environment that helps to build scale and impact Splunk’s continued growth
  • Develop and maintain deep competencies in specific capabilities areas needed by Splunk customers Identify customer challenges where, advanced capabilities are required to meet business objectives
  • Partner with Sales Engineers to drive customer new business opportunities and significant customer-managed expansions
  • Provide expert-level engagement for Splunk’s new or advanced Platform capabilities
  • Drive expansion and migration of Splunk deployments in your assigned region
  • Act as an internal technical expert, fielding inquiries related to on-premises deployments, Splunk Cloud services, and cloud services provided by Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services
  • Operationalize Splunk’s advanced Platform solutions in the customer’s environment and execute on technical plans to ensure long-term customer commitment to solutions
  • Provide hands-on leadership to solve Splunk technical integration needs
  • Design validated solutions and best practices in partnership with other Splunk teams like Architects, Product Management, and Professional Services
  • Become an expert on newly developed Splunk platform capabilities and emerging ecosystem technologies. Apply your expertise to facilitate go-to-market content development and shepherd go-to-market motions
  • Partner with Cloud, Platform, and Compliance Technical Interlocks to proactively identify customer challenges and needs, influencing the Product roadmap to meet critical customer requirements
