What the job involves

  • Liberty Global is actively seeking an experienced strategist with a passion for the TMT sector to help shape the company's future strategic direction
  • The team spearheads the company's thought leadership, fostering a culture of innovation by generating and disseminating transformative ideas, insights, and perspectives. This pivotal role involves steering crucial projects that propel the Group's strategic direction forward
  • Bringing strong analytical rigor and constructive critiques, the team enhances the quality and viability of ongoing projects and ideas
  • Evaluates both current issues and long-term challenges and opportunities, ensuring a comprehensive strategic approach
  • Working closely with a diverse array of teams across the Group, including both Operating Companies (Opcos) and Joint Venture partners like Telefonica, the team gains exceptional exposure to both senior stakeholders and industry experts
  • The team’s work encompasses five main areas:
  • Shaping the overall Group Strategy
  • Addressing a wide array of specific strategic questions, whether specific to an individual Opco or spanning the entire Group
  • Playing a crucial role in any large M&A process, as Liberty Global actively seeks opportunities in the TMT sector and beyond
  • Evaluating and providing feedback on each Opco’s Strategic & Financial Long Range Plan
  • Exploring new revenue stream opportunities, both within Opcos and at the Group level
  • Lead and manage day-to-day strategic projects or workstreams, taking ownership of the process and delivering robust and timely results. The role involves a dynamic mix of guiding junior team members on large-scale projects and independently handling smaller initiatives
  • Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with teams across Liberty Global, Opcos, and our partners; fostering a network of mutual support and shared goals
  • Serve as a 'thought partner,' contributing creative solutions and fresh perspectives to complex challenges
  • Maintain a holistic view of the company's wider strategic direction, understanding how decisions and findings in an individual project impact the overarching goals
  • Design and execute comprehensive analyses, both quantitative and qualitative, to inform strategic decisions and drive innovation or insights
  • Develop clear, well-structured slide decks that effectively communicate key messages, facilitating quick and concise understanding among stakeholders
  • Present recommendations and findings with clarity and precision to stakeholders at all levels, from executives to junior colleagues
  • Coach and develop the Strategy Team’s managers, analysts, and graduates; nurturing talent and fostering professional growth
  • Report to the London based VP within the Group Strategy team
