What the job involves

  • We are expanding our Global Accounts team to further advance our headquarter-level relationships with one of Amazon Advertising's top global client
  • Therefore, we are looking for a Sr. Global AE, Ad Sales to to drive forward the customer relationship for one of the largest CPG advertisers
  • Sr. Global AE, Ad Sales will work directly with Global Media VPs and their teams, global e-commerce leadership, global brand teams, as well as our customer's media agency(ies) – to develop global Joint Business Plans, operationalize the global relationship, drive inclusion of Amazon Advertising inclusion in key brands’ global media planning, interface with programmatic and ad tech teams, and help solve clients’ marketing and media challenges with the breadth of our analytics and insights offering
  • The Sr. Global AE, Ad Sales will support the Principal Global AE on the account including such deliverables such as managing reporting for the account including weekly, monthly, quarterly performance reporting, financial reporting (internal and external)
  • This role will require business travel to client and Amazon offices in the US, across the EU and new locales from the Americas to Asia
  • You will be working with internal partner teams in AdTech, Measurement, Product across the entire Amazon Canvas to provide proactive business solutions for global customers
  • Drive account revenue and enable local market growth by building the global partnership with the customer
  • Manage the customer relationship, act as trusted advisor and the customer's go-to resource to Director- and VP-level client counterparts in e-commerce, marketing and media
  • Educate the customer's’ brand marketing, media, e-commerce, and AdTech community, develop relationships with the client’s global brand teams
  • Identify and lead global advertising programs that generate incremental revenue beyond the local budgets
  • Interface with decision makers and influencers at the clients’ media agency(ies)
  • Support the development and management of the Global JBP across key global workstreams and annual spend commitment
  • Enable local account growth through internal leadership
  • Create incremental local sales opportunities by building a well-connected community of local account executives across North America, EU and Asia
  • Monitor and benchmark local account performance
  • Build efficient global-local processes for Amazon Ads
  • Continue improving global-local sales processes, templates and tools that drive global consistency and transparency
  • Interface with the Amazon retail organization and other Amazon teams (e.g. AWS, Prime Video) on behalf of the client
  • The Sr. Global AE will have experience of influencing, internal collaboration skills between partner teams, end-to-end expertise across the entire media ecosystem, understanding of global marketing organizations, and comfortable presenting to and communicating with to large audiences
  • The Global Accounts Team is the sales team that covers global headquarters-level c-suite decision makers and senior influencers not covered by local Sales teams
  • Global Accounts act as business consultants to Amazon Ads largest global customers to accelerate long-term strategic growth for our local markets
  • The teams' responsibilities include integration in key global media planning frameworks, engagement with clients' global Ad Tech and measurement approaches, and creation of best practices and education at a global scale

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
