What the job involves

  • Within Advertiser Growth organization, the Brand Intelligence team is on a mission to make Amazon the best in class destination for shoppers to discover, engage and build affinity with brands, thereby making shopping delightful, and a personalized experience
  • Our team builds the central brand understanding foundation for Amazon ads and beyond
  • We focus on enabling brands to align customers' shopping intent and position its unique value proposition via Amazon Ads
  • We provide large-scale offline and online brand understanding data services, powered by cutting edge Machine Learning technologies (e.g. , Large-Language-Model, Multi-Modal Deep Neural Networks, Statistical Modeling)
  • We also enables advertiser to manage their brands through intelligent and efficient UX, enabling advertisers to measure their ad performance at the granular levels (e.g. , sub-brands, child brands, peer brands etc.)
  • We are looking for an entrepreneurial product leader to lead and scale Ads Brand Intelligence program to drive shopper and advertiser experience
  • As a Principal Product lead for a foundation platform, you will be responsible for defining the vision, strategy, roadmap, and build strategic relationship with partners to create and build innovative advertiser and shopper's brand experiences
  • You will be required to think big, dive deep, have bias for action and deliver results on Advertiser and brand growth solutions
  • You will work with cross-functional teams, engaging directly with customers of all sizes and teams across Amazon
  • In your day-to-day work, you will closely collaborate with engineers, ML scientists and other leaders on expanding the breadth and depth of Brand Intelligence foundational service, stay curious on learning the latest ML technologies’ strength and limitations, and aligning with cross organization business partners on building next generation Brand Ads products
  • Develop the vision, product strategy, and product development of key Advertising services and experiences with industry-wide impact
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
  • Drive the first and subsequent launches for the service both from product and Go-to-Market perspective
  • Develop detailed business requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product or feature
  • Work closely with engineering teams and program management to deliver products. Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • Communicate your plans to internal stakeholders from across and at all levels within Amazon through 2-6 page documents

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
