Who you are

  • We're looking for a Product leader with a wealth of experience from fintech high-growth investor-backed tech companies
  • Creativity. We're radically changing how people interact with and feel about their finances. You'll bring experience of building consumer credit/card products to the Cleo ecosystem
  • Experience building both new products (0→1) as well as track record of shipping continuous product improvements to an existing product portfolio, ideally for a consumer-facing mobile app
  • Seasoned product leadership, strategy, and vision in a growth-focused B2C environment. Experience building disruptive consumer card or credit products characterised by first-class user experience, reliability, and scalability
  • People leadership: An inspiring, engaging people leader and outstanding communicator. Proven track record in developing Product Managers, and motivating teams
  • Execution-focused product delivery and bias for action: Proven ability to build world-class products loved by users, delivering high-quality products on time and within budget
  • Cultural, mission, and values fit: Strong alignment with Cleo’s values, purpose, and culture. Suited to working in a high-growth, disruptive, founder-led company
  • Working on high impact product initiatives that solve real-world problems for customers and is a high priority business goal

What the job involves

  • WE are looking for a Fintech focused Product Director to come and make a continued success of our Credit Builder Card
  • Enhance financial access, supporting our mission to make financial health universally attainable
  • Early Paycheck Access and Emergency Cash: Facilitate up to 2 days early paycheck access and emergency cash, crucial for alleviating financial strain
  • User-Friendly Experience: Maintain and innovate on a product with over 130k positive app reviews, ensuring it remains a trusted financial tool
  • Credit Building Subscription: Lead the development of the Credit Builder Subscription, designed to help rebuild and establish credit without debt
  • Report to our VP Growth
  • Own the vision, long term strategy, and product roadmap for our credit builder card
  • Hire, build, develop, and lead a high performing product management team
  • Work closely with a wide range of partners in product, engineering, design, user research, partnerships, compliance and data to ensure Cleo is delivering to business and users needs
  • Consistently deliver impactful initiatives that deliver immense customer value and business results

Application process

  • Step 2: 1 hour call with our VP Growth
  • Step 3: Live product case study interview, which will then be presented to one of our Product Directors/Lead Product Managers and Lead Product Designers
  • Step 4: 45 minutes with cross-functional peers from two members of design, data, engineering, and commercial, 45 minutes with our Founder Barney

People are increasingly not satisfied with the products being offered by traditional banks, which have proven slow to react to the needs of younger consumers who expect more from their everyday experiences.

Cleo was one of the first companies to make great use of chatbots that sit within Facebook's messenger app. This chatbot-first approach and Gen Z user base have given it strong virality. It now has millions of registered users, 99% of which are based in the US, leading to a decision to take a year break from the UK market to focus on its US Gen Z customers.

Its Series C funding will help the company to double down in the US, where it will make a significant increase in employee headcount, and enable Cleo to maintain and expand its service during an economic downturn.

Financial advice delivered via bots is a crowded space, so Cleo benefits from having a strong brand presence. It has gone for very bold, fun, Gen Z-focused messaging which helps it to stand out from competitors such as Emma, Plum, and Chip.
