Role

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate must have a solid vision for how to bring products to AR creators & developers, growing and scaling developer platforms, be at ease in a fast moving and ambiguous environment, and showcase excellent problem solving and communication skills in order to drive impact across different teams
  • Strong understanding of platform developer ecosystem dynamics, from the products and tools, integrations, to monetization
  • Solid track record in launching products & drive global adoption
  • Experience working closely with creators and developers to understand their needs and translate them into platform product ideas/requirements and prototypes
  • 5+ years professional experience in product marketing, product management, internet technology, strategy consulting, corporate banking or other relevant digital marketing experience
  • BA/BS degree in business, economics, psychology, design, marketing, or another related field (equivalent years of experience)

Desirable

  • Experience in the AR/VR industry is a plus
  • Design experience is a plus
  • MBA preferred

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for an experienced Product Marketing Manager to join our Product Marketing team, focused on our AR Platform
  • Our AR Platform products are leading the way in defining the Augmented Reality industry, with powerful creation tools like Lens Studio, and innovative new technology such as Camera Kit, Gen AI capabilities, and our suite of developer APIs
  • You will partner closely with our Product Management, Design and Partnerships teams to build and launch products and grow their adoption within the developer and creator communities
  • As a Product Marketing Manager, you will conduct research and analysis to understand the needs of the market, identify key trends, and lead initiatives to capture growth opportunities
  • You will use your market knowledge and analytical mindset to properly inform the roadmap, build global go to market strategies, and coordinate ongoing marketing efforts to grow awareness, understanding and adoption of Snapchat’s AR Platform
  • Be a recognized expert of the Augmented Reality space and collaborate with a group of Product Managers, Designers & Partnerships Managers to develop and execute global go to market strategies, including product positioning, narrative, internal communications and marketing activations
  • Lead extensive market research to identify new opportunities through structured analysis, market trends, competitive benchmarking, quantitative & qualitative feedback, and influence our AR Platform product roadmap
  • Be a self starter team player who can lead, coordinate and drive successful alignment across wide cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Communications, Sales, Partnerships, Product, and Engineering, with minimal guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and articulate value proposition to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Inspire and educate both internal and external teams
  • Build frameworks and processes to structure conversations, create & socialize product and GTM initiatives, and drive alignment at each level of the company, from peers to senior leadership

Our take

Snap is the social media giant that owns Snapchat, a social media mobile app released in 2011. Created to serve as a more emotive communication form than texting, the app has gained mass popularity, reaching upwards of 400 million daily users worldwide.

After rejecting a billion dollar acquisition from Meta (then Facebook) in 2013, Snap has found itself in competition with the social media giant, particularly with Instagram. Despite this, the company has marked a place for itself in the ever competitive social media space through developing features like a Discover tab, augmented reality lenses, in-app games, ads and monetisation options, as well as launching its paid service, Snapchat+.

Snap has so far not earned an annual profit since going public in 2017, but as Snapchat's user base has continually increased it has nearly closed the gap. Like other tech companies it suffered in late 2022 due to a surprise drop in advertising revenue, but has been rebuilding to its former trajectory since then. Given Snapchat's lasting popularity amongst young people, further success appears likely.
