  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or other relevant disciplines with 8 years of full-time work experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of work experience, or a PhD with 3 years of work experience
  • You have experience in automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, or other spoken language processing field. Especially, if you’ve worked with both end-to-end and hybrid ASR models
  • You have good understanding of machine learning fundamentals, and are proficient in machine learning frameworks (pytorch in particular, but experience with xgboost and other frameworks is also welcome)
  • You are proficient in writing Python code that is documented, well tested, packaged, and follows industry best practices. Experience with C++ is also appreciated

What the job involves

  • In this role you’ll build models estimating confidence of automatic speech recognition (ASR). Among other things, confidence estimation is an important part of large scale automated labeling, ASR models arbitration, and robust low resource command recognition
  • Besides confidence models, you will also improve various aspects of our ASR technology
  • Work independently and lead technical initiatives to advance confidence models architecture
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support confidence models for a variety of ASR architectures, sizes, and languages
  • Find novel ways to utilize confidence estimates
  • Train, tune and test state-of-the-art ASR models for SoundHound voice AI products using machine learning and deep learning techniques

Our take

The world is becoming ever more voice-enabled, and SoundHound have been working for over a decade on their voice AI and conversational intelligence technology to stay ahead. The applications for top tier tech of this sort are vast, from automotive innovation through to restaurant management, and SoundHound is firmly leading the pack.

SoundHound has developed products with unrivalled accuracy across nearly two dozen languages, giving them a real edge over Google and Amazon’s competing products. To consolidate this lead, the company also made a number of strategic, big-name partnerships to broaden their products’ uptake, with the likes of Tencent, Hyundai, Nvidia, and Samsung counted among them.

By keeping its products customizable and broadly applicable, SoundHound was successful in its IPO bid, which will cement its position globally as the sector continues to develop. Although taking a hit from the poor economic climate, alongside many of its fellows, the company has secured post-IPO funds. It paid off its post-IPO debt in 2024, making it lighter on its feet as it captures new markets and customers in the voice-enabled AI sector.
