Company mission

Sifted's mission is to be the critical friend of Europe’s startup community, and to amplify and empower the founders, investors and startup operators driving innovation from the front.

Role

Who you are

  • Interested and knowledgeable about tech, startups and venture capital
  • Be highly numerate with a logical approach to problem-solving and high attention to detail
  • Have strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and present data
  • Comfortable producing clear, concise research that’s easy for our readers to understand
  • Strong IT skills — specifically with spreadsheets and databases. Experience with Python and other data tools is strongly preferred
  • Highly organised, and be able to work on multiple projects at once and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Being a team player with a collaborative approach is essential
  • Be a self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and delivery skills
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved in all aspects of the business

What the job involves

  • As Sifted continues to strengthen its reputation as the leading source of information on European tech, we require an Analyst Intern to capture data and produce high-quality insights and research for our readers and subscribers
  • In the role of Analyst Intern, reporting to the Head of Research, you will be expected to contribute across the entire Intelligence portfolio of subscription and commercial content, including Briefings, Scouts, Leaderboards and Reports
  • This is a really exciting time to join the business, as we look to develop our market intelligence product, Sifted Pro, and build on our Sifted for Startups programme. It is a great opportunity for an individual early on in their career to gain exposure to venture capital through the lens of a data and research team. Analysts have previously gone on to jobs in VC and product roles at fast-growing startups
  • Scouting the ecosystem for relevant early-stage startups to produce watch lists
  • Analysing startup, investor, funding and M&A data
  • Data collection and verification to ensure our inputs are as accurate as possible
  • Researching and writing about ecosystem, investment and sector-specific trends
  • Producing charts and infographics that accurately paint a picture of the latest developments within European tech
  • Work closely with the Head of Research and other analysts to develop our current and future offerings of content and products
  • Speaking with industry players — primarily founders and investors — to capture further insight to make our research even more compelling
