Who you are

  • This is an individual contributor role designed for a results-driven sales professional, who thrives on identifying and closing new business opportunities
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in analytics or SaaS sales, a strong understanding of the digital analytics landscape, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • 2-4 years of experience in SaaS, technology, or analytics sales
  • Proven track record of new business sales success, consistently meeting or exceeding quotas
  • Experience in selling analytics, BI solutions, or similar technologies is highly preferred
  • Native German language skills are mandatory
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and close complex sales cycles independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working in team environments
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Master’s degree or similar university-level education. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills, or equivalent experience

What the job involves

  • As a Sales Manager for Piano Analytics, you will play a critical role in expanding our client base, focusing on enterprise brands in the DACH region
  • Build, lead and grow your own book of business, leveraging your existing and building a new network, identifying and selling to top accounts
  • Drive significant growth for Piano Analytics in the DACH market – Germany, Austria and Switzerland - achieving or exceeding individual quota
  • Manage complete and complex sales cycles presenting to C-level executives the value of our analytics product
  • Define, execute, and own an engagement plan for key prospects, leverage marketing, product, and leadership to prospect effectively
  • Territory/Vertical identification and research, to formalize a go-to-market strategy and create qualified target accounts
  • Forecast sales activity and revenue achievement, while creating satisfied and referenceable customers
  • Partner with the pre-sales and marketing teams to maximize revenue-generating opportunities

Our take

Piano helps businesses manage subscription, analytics and content personalization to monetize digital experiences. Previously the focus was on traditional publishers like Wall Street Post and CNBC. However, with the declining value of revenue streams like third party cookies, and new platforms like Substack and Clubhouse siphoning off paying customers, the revenue pinch is being felt by a growing spread of digital services.

Piano’s cloud-based offerings run a broad gamut, including experience personalization, paywall management, and data analytics. These are all supported by integrations with various mainstream third-party tools including Google Ad Manager and Apple Pay. This seemingly fragmented approach has not spread Piano thin, however, and it is consolidating its market lead with strategic acquisitions in the publishing space such as AT Internet and SocialFlow.

Following its impressive level of funding and massive growth in revenue since 2019, Piano is developing its product further to provide further publicity and analytics tools for its customers, particularly in newsletters and socials. It is also likely to continue expanding its market share through acquisitions as it builds outs its end-to-end platform for the publishing industry.
