Role

Who you are

  • You have 8+ years experience managing and developing well-loved software products as a product manager. You’ve had multiple experiences defining product roadmaps, convincing leadership to invest, building collaboratively with design and engineering, and shipping at scale
  • You have product experience using generative AI, machine learning, large language models and diffusion, ideally with demonstrated business impact
  • You have delivered projects that have shown proven impact for your business
  • You have good instincts as well as deep analytical thinking to focus on the things that matter most. You are experienced in making hard data-informed decisions
  • You are excited about building products in a rapidly changing landscape and inspiring others around you to do the same
  • You are able to distill complex information into easy-to-understand concepts, and understand how to lead a team through ambiguity
  • You consider the user in everything you do and love partnering with design, insights and engineering to turn a vision into reality
  • You are an excellent communicator, comfortable working with multiple stakeholders

What the job involves

  • In this role, you’ll lead a talented team of product managers, stakeholders and partners to define and shape product strategy
  • You’ll work closely with Spotify leadership as you envision, evangelize and fund novel AI products and capabilities
  • You’ll inspire teams of engineers to execute and deliver these products to bolster Spotify’s best-in-class recommendation offering, and in the process, make a substantial impact on the happiness of our 600m+ users as well as the success of our business and our creators
  • This is a strategically important role for Spotify and the opportunity for impact is high
  • Conceive, evangelize and fund novel Spotify AI products and AI capabilities with leadership and continue to power surfaces, playlists and platform partner product areas with best-in-class AI technology
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive teams where creativity, partnership, and communication are balanced with deep technical expertise
  • Build, grow and lead a team of product managers to define and execute your long term vision
  • Build a roadmap and execution strategies with the team by balancing user needs, strategic business needs, stakeholder needs and technological opportunities
  • Define metrics and KPIs we will use to measure the success of the features your team builds
  • Build relationships and partnerships with teams across the company, align on strategy, vision, execution and enablement
  • Ensuring your teams are strong and healthy - including capabilities, happiness, resilience and growth
  • You will work from our US offices with the ability to work from home flexibly

Our take

Spotify was founded in an attempt to combat the rampant music piracy that was causing significant harm to the industry. The company has since taken music streaming mainstream and now has 180m+ paying subscribers across the world.

With features that include a highly accessible interface and a vast catalogue of artists, Spotify's strong brand has been able to maintain growth in spite of fierce competition from deep-pocketed rivals like Amazon and Apple. The company has achieved this by making smart acquisitions to move into other verticals to strengthen its offerings, especially podcasting, by acquiring Gimlet Media, Anchor and Parcast.

Spotify's future plans include rapid growth with a goal to become a one-stop destination for all digital sound, as well as AI and NFT integrations. However, high costs incurred from the acquisition of exclusive podcasts, increasing competitor strength, and weak bottom-line growth mean that the company must find a balance to maintain its position in the sector.
